Overview This position provides senior engineering leadership on a new nuclear power plant facility, with focus on the Nuclear Island execution. The role requires applying knowledge gained from experience and expertise to project duties, with decisions that may impact the organization, employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Area Engineering Manager for the Nuclear Island scope on a new nuclear power plant facility.
Responsible for the performance of the engineering team and the successful execution of all engineering work on the project.
Lead and guide the development and implementation of the execution strategy; oversee development and enforcement of engineering budget, schedule, and quality.
Promote Fluor’s competitiveness by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.
Manage interfaces between engineering disciplines, anticipate critical activities, and support the execution strategy.
Set a positive project culture with the Project Manager and Project Director; monitor team morale and take steps to maintain a positive work environment.
Lead development of the Engineering component of the overall Project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other baseline documents for all project phases.
Lead the development of the Project Execution Strategy for all engineering functions and identify risks and mitigations associated with strategy execution.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four-year degree or global equivalent in engineering and twenty (20) years of work-related experience; professional certification/registration if required; some locations may have additional qualifications.
OR Accreditated two-year degree or global equivalent with twenty-two (22) years of work-related experience, or a combination equaling twenty-four (24) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional qualifications.
Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
Strong leadership skills, customer focus, business acumen, influence, strategic agility, decision making, accountability, ownership, teamwork, mentoring, and coaching.
Ability to translate strategy into actionable steps and attention to detail in a time-conscious manner.
Experience as Project Engineering Lead on FEED and Detail Design projects.
Professional registration and active participation in a technical society.
Other Job Requirements
US Citizen or Green Card holder with current or past clearance to work on nuclear projects.
Experience with nuclear power plant design (Reactor Building, Radioactive Waste Building, Control Building).
Experience executing engineering work under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
Familiarity with nuclear industry standards and regulations; licensing per 10 CFR Part 50 and 10 CFR Part 52.
Familiarity with design and procurement of safety-related and augmented quality components.
