The Marketing Manager leads digital, web, and social media efforts to develop and execute integrated communications supporting the full student journey. This role is pivotal in shaping the student experience by ensuring clear, timely, and action-oriented marketing across the entire student lifecycle from admissions to graduation.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Champions marketing that empowers students through their journey with IU from early awareness of IU to navigating administrative processes with confidence, freeing them to focus on academic success and campus engagement.
Ensures cohesive and strategic marketing across financial aid, admissions, academic success, and career engagement while maintaining alignment with institutional brand and strategic priorities.
Serves as the primary architect of cross-functional marketing strategies that enhance student commitment, understanding, engagement, and success.
Develops and executes marketing support for unit efforts through the student lifecycle.
Aligns marketing strategies and resources across all four domains (financial, enrollment, academic, career).
Establishes and monitors key performance indicators.
Ensures consistent ROI, efficacy, and impact across all student-facing communications.
Reviews and approves marketing strategy in support of major communications campaigns and policy explanations.
Maintains master editorial calendar for critical student milestones.
Partners with enrollment management, academic affairs, and student success leadership.
Serves as a marketing liaison to University Communications and Marketing.
General Responsibilities
Directs overall operations and strategy for the marketing and communications function by providing oversight and direction within a large multi-faceted department or multiple departments.
Hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, assigns work, sets goals and objectives, determines staffing needs, sets strategic priorities, and directs the work of people leaders within marketing.
Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders; determines marketing needs, projects, and programs to align with objectives and goals and coaches people leaders on processes such as the development of marketing timelines related to such initiatives.
Advises on best practices for strategic marketing plans to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
Directs and manages the budget for marketing initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, program costs, and cost containment.
Responds to escalated and highly complex inquiries and requests from direct reports and stakeholders; acts as a resource and explains policies, procedures, and programs.
Monitors industry trends and best practices and implements strategic process and policy changes to optimize operations and progress toward objectives.
Presents marketing outcomes to university leadership.
Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or related field
Work Experience
5 years in relevant field
3 years of management experience in relevant field

The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Work Location Bloomington or Indianapolis campus. This is an in-person position.
