Job Summary
As a Tax Senior Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with exposure to a diverse client base across various industries. Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies for clients, ensuring alignment with their financial objectives and minimization of tax liabilities. Analyze complex tax scenarios, including mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, to provide optimal solutions. Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff, and review their work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards. Monitor engagement progress, budgets, and timelines, and adjust to meet client expectations. Research and Analysis Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments, applying this knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiatives. Lead tax research efforts to address client inquiries, resolve complex tax issues, and guide decision-making. Client Communication Effectively communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients, tailoring explanations to their understanding and addressing questions or concerns. Prepare and deliver presentations to clients on tax-related matters, providing insights into their financial situations and potential tax implications. Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor for tax matters. Compliance and Documentation Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns to ensure accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal quality control standards. Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements to avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions. Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws and changes, ensuring firm and client compliance with latest requirements. Team Collaboration Collaborate with other tax professionals to share insights and best practices. Supervise and mentor tax staff, providing guidance, training, and feedback to support professional growth and quality of work. Foster a collaborative team environment and participate in internal training to stay updated on industry trends. Process Improvement and Innovation Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies, contributing to continuous improvement of the firm’s tax services. Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures, including reviewing and approving tax filings and client deliverables. Strategic Business Development Collaborate with partners and senior management to identify business development opportunities, cultivate client leads, and contribute to the firm’s growth strategy. Participate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clients. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise subordinate team members. Work Environment Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer screen. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Travel Required Travel may be frequent and unpredictable, depending on client needs. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. 8+ years of relevant experience. CPA or Enrolled Agent license. Experience in a professional services environment, such as a CPA firm or financial consulting firm. Specific positions may require additional industry or specialization certifications. Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement. Software: CCH Prosystem fx, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research. Preferred Education and Experience Juris Doctor (JD) degree for specialty positions.
