AECOM is seeking a candidate for the position of Senior Rail Bridge Design Project Engineer with the Bridge Design Engineering Group based in Chicago, IL. The role involves leading technical design for transit and freight rail structures and contributing to interdisciplinary project deliverables within a transportation infrastructure context.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior technical resource for transit and freight rail structures and may act as a technical advisor to the project team.

Provide specialized technical input to studies and designs in the designated area of expertise.

Develop study and design procedures to enable high-quality, cost-effective work by others.

Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.

Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical effort for projects.

Apply expertise across all steps of completing the discipline component of PS&E packages.

Perform quality control reviews of design calculations or drawings.

Prepare technical specification sections.

Contribute to the development of engineering budgets and schedules to meet project requirements.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:

BA/BS + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Illinois Professional Engineer (PE)

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering

Seismic (SE) design experience highly preferred

8+ years of bridge design and plan development experience

Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, LEAP Concrete/Bridge, PTC MathCAD

Experience leading a staff of engineers and CAD personnel

Experience in plan production of transportation structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing

Structural problem analysis skills and knowledge of design and calculation tools

Knowledge of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes

Occasional field work (site visits/inspections) and travel

Compensation for Chicago and surrounding region: USD 160,000 – USD 225,000 per year, based on qualifications and location.

Work location: Hybrid model in Chicago, IL area.
