Overview

Patient Financial Advisor II - Simmons Cancer Center Operate with limited oversight to provide financial counseling and clearance for patients across two or more revenue locations. Responsibilities

Provides complex financial counseling for services that occur across two or more revenue locations. Provides training to Financial Wellness Advisor I and other staff related to financial counseling services as needed. Confirms patient insurance eligibility and provides complex benefits review in support of multiple revenue locations for single visits and extended episodes of care. Reviews benefits to ensure understanding of coverage. Assists with prior authorization requests when appropriate to expedite access to services. Produces combined cost estimates for facility and professional services and uses cost estimate technology to create estimates; communicates estimated costs to patients and affected parties. Posts payments and creates payment plans for upcoming services and outstanding balances. Reviews account details for patient education and corrections; communicates balances to patients and others; assists with resolving questions and concerns; advises on options to resolve bad debt; informs patients about financial and entitlement programs (e.g., charity programs, drug assistance). Coordinates and completes financial assistance applications for charity care programs. Understands revenue cycle including escalation pathways; knowledge of regulatory agencies (JCAHO, Medicare/Medicaid, state and federal laws, hospital/policy guidance). Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree. Experience: 5 years of financial counseling or equivalent with a High School Diploma, or 3 years with an Associate degree, or 1 year with a Bachelor's degree. Preferred: Experience as a financial counselor in Oncology is strongly preferred. Work Details

Work Shift: 7:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday Candidate must reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Mostly remote with occasional in-office visits; details discussed at interview.
