AVP Emerging AI, Claims & Operations Data Science
role at The Hartford. We’re hiring an AVP leading Generative and Agentic AI solutions for the Claims and Operations organizations. This leader will transform the end-to-end Claims and Service customer journey by developing and embedding emerging AI capabilities to enhance outcomes, processes and experience. The Claims & Operations Emerging AI team builds integrated and interactive solutions with NLP, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Generative AI and Agentic AI to enhance productivity and decision support across Claims and Service Operations. We partner with enterprise AI Platform and peer data science teams to build a consistent architecture while tailoring solutions to customer needs. The role offers a Hybrid work schedule with office presence 3 days a week in one of these locations: Columbus, OH; Chicago, IL; Hartford, CT; Alpharetta, GA; or Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship. Responsibilities
Develop and oversee multiple teams to develop, test, and maintain robust Generative and Agentic AI solutions across claim and customer service operations. Collaborate with business leaders to understand goals and develop, align and execute on the AI strategy and multi-year roadmap. Develop partnerships with portfolio and value stream frameworks; promote agile, iterative development through cross-functional teams. Hire, lead and develop a team of asset owners, data engineers, data scientists and ML engineers; foster an engaged and inclusive culture. Provide thought leadership to identify AI opportunities and promote a data-driven culture leveraging data and AI to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Partner with technology, data, AI platform, MLOps and Architecture teams to influence integration, data and platform strategy, tooling and reusable capabilities. Collaborate with AI platform owners to champion reusable AI solutions for governance, scalability and reuse. Develop knowledge of The Hartford’s structures, processes and data sources. Stay up-to-date with latest ML and AI techniques, MLOps, Cloud Engineering and emerging technologies. Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics or related field; 5+ years of insurance experience leading teams. 7+ years of formal leadership of functional teams. Degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar field. Proven ability to build and grow technical teams and establish operating rhythms. Strong understanding of the end-to-end insurance business and customer touchpoints. Subject matter expertise in ML techniques, prompt engineering, RAG, agentic frameworks, model evaluation, guardrail management, MLOps and lifecycle management. Strong understanding of responsible AI practices, model risk management and governance. Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) and their AI/ML ecosystems. Strategic thinking and analytical能力 with business acumen to translate technical topics into solutions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate at all levels. Ability to work autonomously with attention to detail and ability to balance priorities. Experience driving change in core processes using quantitative techniques. Strong negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills with internal partners. Innovative and results-oriented with a sense of urgency and accountability. Compensation
The listed annual base pay range is based on external market data; actual pay may vary based on performance and competencies. Base pay is one component of The Hartford’s total compensation, which may include bonuses, incentives and recognition. Base pay range:
