Position Summary
This position offers a terrific opportunity to discover a new class of groundbreaking medicines. The successful candidate will work closely with a group of skilled scientists to design, synthesize, and analyze complex peptides for therapeutic applications. This role requires a deep understanding of peptide chemistry and problem‑solving skills to develop novel chemistries and create a new class of macromolecular medicines called Synteins™. Key Responsibilities
Apply a combination of solid‑phase peptide synthesis, conjugation chemistries, and automation technologies to synthesize new macromolecules Purify and analyze macromolecules using modern instrumentation Independently troubleshoot challenging technical, experimental, and instrumental issues Evaluate macromolecular properties using various biophysical and functional assays Meticulously record and analyze data with minimal oversight Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents and instruments Regularly summarize progress of work in oral and written format Stay informed of the latest developments in peptide chemistry and related fields through continuous learning Qualifications
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry with 2+ years of industry experience Experience in either or all of the following is a plus: organic synthesis including solid‑phase peptide synthesis; reaction design, optimization, and automation; analytical techniques LCMS, HPLC, FPLC, UV‑VIS, NMR, FT‑IR, CD Enthusiasm, independence, and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial, results‑oriented environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Committed to working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team More About Flagship Pioneering
