General Description: The Johns Hopkins All Children's Institute for Fundamental Biomedical Research (IFBR) is recruiting for a basic science research faculty member to be located on the St. Petersburg, Florida campus. The selected candidate will hold a full time tenure-track faculty appointment with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), rank commensurate with experience (Assistant, Associate or full Professor). We are interested in candidates whose proposed research has broad relevance to the control of metabolism related to disease states with relevance to children\'s health. Preferred areas include, but are not limited to: genomics, epigenomics, nuclear receptor research, lipid signaling, bioinformatics, transcriptional and system-level analyses of cells and tissues involved in whole-body metabolism and/or disease processes. Candidates whose research offers translational potential in obesity, diabetes, endocrine, inflammatory or degenerative diseases are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities
Establish rigorous and competitive basic research programs addressing unmet clinical needs. Secure external funding from diverse sources. Collaborate with IFBR members and Johns Hopkins faculty in Florida and Baltimore. Develop and maintain productive research collaborations and publish results in high-impact journals consistent with academic level. Participate in teaching, mentorship, and service as appropriate to the faculty rank. Qualifications
PhD or MD/PhD in Biological Science or a related field with outstanding training in one of the focus areas noted above. Proven track record of research accomplishments and publications. Ability to secure external funding is a plus. Willingness to collaborate with IFBR and Johns Hopkins faculty across Florida and Baltimore. What You Will Join
The hired faculty member will join a cluster of 9 JHUSOM basic science faculty with research space in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Research and Education Building, a state-of-the-art facility with extensive wet lab space and shared resources. IFBR faculty have access to research service centers and cores on the JHU SOM Baltimore campus as well. Application Process
