Surescripts is seeking a Senior Cloud DataOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to support data and analytics workflows, data products, and data pipelines. The role partners with Data & Analytics, Network Technology & Operations, system operations, DevOps, data engineers, data scientists, and analysts to enable scalable data processing and machine learning workloads. The Senior DataOps Engineer leads DataOps process improvements and leverages advanced cloud computing and storage techniques in our Google Cloud environment. Overview

The Senior Cloud DataOps Engineer designs, builds, and maintains cloud infrastructure for data processing and analytics, ensuring seamless data flow, optimized performance, and adherence to privacy protections and security protocols in a complex data environment. Responsibilities

Data Transformations and Data Fusion: Support cloud components for data processing (e.g., ETL/ELT pipelines) using Python, SQL, and other relevant cloud technologies; ensure monitoring, logging, alerting, and automation components are configured for data engineering teams. Data Cleansing, De-Identification, Data Masking: Configure tools and processes to protect sensitive information by removing or obfuscating identifiers and securing data with cryptographic methods. Containerization: Leverage containers and orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, GKE, DataProc) as appropriate. Cloud Processing Orchestration: Setup and support workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Composer, Apache Airflow) or equivalent cloud/cluster solutions. Infrastructure Management: Provision and manage GCP resources using IaC (Terraform); manage VMs, VPCs, storage, Cloud SQL, monitoring, logging, security components (IAM, firewall, encryption). DevOps Practices: Implement CI/CD, IaC, and monitoring/alerting in collaboration with the System Operations function. Data Quality and Governance: Implement and configure data governance and quality tools (e.g., Informatica, Bigeye, Google Dataplex Data Quality). Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize data pipelines and analytics applications to improve efficiency. Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues and provide technical support to data engineers and data scientists. Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in cloud data operations. Data privacy and security: Adhere to applicable data privacy laws and Surescripts data governance policies. Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field; or equivalent experience 5+ years of progressive experience in DevOps roles with strong focus on GCP or other cloud providers 3+ years of experience in healthcare transaction data, including data engineering and reporting Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, REST API integrations, and infrastructure as code (IaC using Terraform) Strong knowledge of data warehousing/data lake, ETL/ELT processes, and reporting layers Expertise in cloud data, compute, and storage technologies (e.g., BigQuery, BigTable, AlloyDB) Proficiency in Python or Java/JavaScript; SQL and both Relational and NoSQL databases Familiarity with data quality and governance concepts Proficiency with orchestration technologies (Airflow, DataProc, Kubernetes/GKE) Knowledge of HIPAA and health data privacy regulations Ability to work independently and in a team with strong collaboration and communication skills Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Computer Science or Data Science Experience with Google Cloud data storage tools (BigQuery, BigTable, AlloyDB) Health IT industry knowledge with focus on e-prescribing DataOps experience: Data Fusion with CDAP, ETL/ELT, SQL, Python Apache Airflow for DataOps orchestration GCP Cloud DevOps Engineer certifications; IaC with Terraform Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Knowledge of cloud security best practices Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau) To be considered for employment, applicants must have a valid U.S. work authorization allowing work without restrictions with Surescripts in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship for immigration benefits such as work visas and do not participate in academic training programs requiring employer endorsement of F-1/CPT or F-1/STEM.
