Overview
Position Summary: Ryan Specialty’s Tax Department is seeking a Tax Manager to manage the quarterly and yearly tax provision process, assist with the compliance process, and other special tax projects. This position reports to the VP of Tax and requires meticulous attention to detail, high ethical standards, and the ability to clearly communicate complex tax information across departments. The role involves collaboration with tax professionals and teammates in Controllership, Treasury, Payroll, Financial Planning & Analysis, Legal, and more. The candidate should thrive in rapid change, have excellent organizational skills, work effectively in cross-functional teams, and be highly resourceful to deliver under tight deadlines.
Essential Functions
Manage the interim and year-end provision calculations as prepared in accordance with ASC 740, including review of the current and deferred income tax provision, effective tax rate reconciliation, deferred tax rollforwards, current taxes payable rollforwards and reconciliations, valuation allowance analysis, and return to provision adjustments. Prepare / review technical memoranda and documentation of various complex tax issues to determine appropriate tax treatment and related income tax reporting. Ensure accuracy and completeness of tax-related financial disclosures and reporting for SEC filings. Ensure processes and procedures are followed for SOX compliance, including documentation of tax controls and collaboration with internal SOX team and external auditors. Support VP of Tax with merger and acquisition activities, including diligence, structuring, planning, and executing post transaction integration. Assist with review of corporate and partnership federal, state, and local tax returns, including quarterly estimates and extensions. Help drive continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures as the company expands in both new and established markets.
Education/Experience/Skills
BS degree in accounting or a related field, or equivalent business experience; CPA, preferred Technical experience in ASC 740, demonstrated by a minimum of 5-8 years of experience preparing and reviewing US GAAP income tax provisions Experience with the Federal and State corporate and partnership tax compliance Working knowledge of tax law in key international jurisdictions Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel Effective communication skills to interact with tax and non-tax personnel Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of a team.

The target salary range for this position is $148,000.00 - $185,000.00 annually.
