Employees in this position work directly with a specific group of suppliers in the Forgings Supply Chain and cross functional clients daily to help ensure uninterrupted availability of material to worldwide locations in direct response to our customers’ requirements. The Principal Supply Chain Coordinator has a direct impact on managing supplier production planning and shipments; to cost and delivery performance; and ultimately to our customer commitments and satisfaction. Accountability
The Principal Supply Chain Coordinator serves as the primary supply and demand agent between Solar Turbines and the supply base for global/regional initiatives. Individuals in the Supply Chain Coordinator role are the recognized specialists for their assigned portion of the global category, commodity, region, or function. They support development and execution of Global Supply Chain strategies and drive performance excellence in People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost through direct communication and collaboration with both the supply base and internal customers within Solar. These positions are responsible for day-to-day planning, execution activities, supplier management including, but not limited to placing purchase orders, follow-up, and resolving issues; communicating demand and forecasts, preparing recovery plans, managing supplier relationships and performance, communicating, and mitigating risks that could impact Solar’s ability to meet the business plan. Success in this role is determined by performance metrics that include Supplier on-time delivery, sales order on-time delivery, past due purchase order management, confirmed orders, inventory management and new item set-up velocity. This position acts with a sense of urgency and is diligent in providing timely support to internal clients and external customers. This individual operates in compliance with corporate and Supply Chain policies and procedures and continuously practices and demonstrates Safety and acts in adherence to Our Values in Action. This individual has no direct reports but works within a team structure typically including a Sourcing Specialist, Procurement Specialist, Supplier Technical Engineer and reports directly to a Supply Chain Manager. The work environment is office based with occasional visits to internal production areas as well as external supplier sites, which may involve domestic and/or international travel. Qualifications
The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills and competencies that include: Supply Chain Management – Applies advanced knowledge to managed processes, establishes policies, and develops value-adding strategies. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal clients and supplier partners. Knowledge and expertise with all tools used to execute planning including Baan, Cognos, Tableau, ladder charts and Salesforce. Supplier Management - Manages supplier deliveries and supplier performance for assigned commodities. Proactively identifies supplier capacity and quality constraints that impact delivery. Reviews supplier metrics and acts when suppliers are at risk of not meeting commitments. Manages follow-up activity, ensures PO confirmation, and coordinates prioritization, expedite activities, and risk communications. Risk Management – Identifies, communicates and mitigates risk to the business. Executes risk mitigation strategies to avoid supply chain disruption including dual sourcing, safety stock, and response time strategies. Initiates supply gap analysis and solutions. Category Profile Analysis - Proficient in industry and market analysis, spend and demand analysis, supplier analysis, and aftermarket market. Understands risk, impact and exposure to excess inventory with long lead times and/or high order quantities. Understands commodity manufacturing processes to mitigate risk and reduce cycle times. Leadership and Engagement – Prepare and facilitate meetings with suppliers and internal clients, contribute to process improvements, train and coach peers, and lead performance metric reporting and improvement planning. Execution of Material Planning – Manage demand signals for assigned commodities and ensure the right material is delivered to the right place at the right time. Develops shortage identification processes. Understands Quality Management Systems and Job Aide documentation, can explain processes to peers, and executes in ERP. Manages planning methods, MRP classifications, and logistics processes including Incoterms, receiving and warehousing, with ability to expedite when needed. Analytics and Problem Solving – Knowledgeable in Excel, Tableau, and Cognos. Uses analytics to drive process improvements and ensures correct planning strategy and item setup (lot size, lead times, order method, PMFEP, FOQ, etc.). Required Qualifications
The position requires a degree and APICS certifications with 3-5 years of experience. Alternatively, the qualified candidate can have APICS certifications and 4-7 years of experience. Experience with ERP software and proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio). Fluent in Business English in written and oral form. Preferred Qualifications
Supply Chain Certification(s) from a professional institution (ASCM, APICS, IIPMR, ISCEA, ISM, or comparable International Certification). Affiliation(s) with ISM, ASCM/APICS or comparable professional purchasing organizations. Demonstrated background in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field. Individual Contributor Behavior including customer commitment, priority setting, proactiveness, accountability and professional growth. Six-Sigma certification as a Black Belt or Green Belt with project and team leadership experience. Understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing principles. Strong communication and analytical skill sets. Proven influencing and interpersonal skill sets. Compensation and Benefits
Summary Pay Range:
$108,834.00 - $163,252.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
