Organization And Position Overview
Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.
Lead implementation of new core applications (e.g. SAP Hana and EWM) and functionality at our Lilly Medicine Foundry. Reporting to the Material Management and Supply Chain function and playing a key role on the Materials Flow Team, the role leads the site in optimizing our use of SAP technologies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
As the key business representative for digital supply chain processes at the Lilly Medicine Foundry, this role is accountable for ensuring end-to-end operational excellence across Materials Management, Inbound and Outbound Shipping, Warehouse Management, Capacity Planning, and Master Data Management. This business-facing position serves as the primary liaison between site supply chain teams, IT partners (both local and global), and global/PRD supply chain organizations. The Associate Director will advocate for business needs, drive process optimization, and ensure that technology solutions fully support and enhance site supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
Act as the primary business lead for all supply chain functions—including Materials Management, Inbound and Outbound Logistics, Warehouse Management, Capacity Planning, and Master Data Management—aligning business requirements with digital solutions.
Partner closely with business process owners, data specialists, and IT application owners to maximize the value of core applications (including SAP, Production Scheduling, Warehouse Management, Cold Chain management, etc) for all supply chain processes.
Serve as the SAP and other supply chain applications power user for the Logistics Center, collaborating with IT and automation Architects, Data Analytics teams, and other digital partners to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
Represent the site’s supply chain interests in cross-functional and global forums, ensuring alignment with PRD and global supply chain strategies and initiatives.
Support daily supply chain operations as a senior member of the Materials Flow team, proactively identifying and resolving process or system issues.
Own the knowledge management and learning plan for all supply chain-related core applications, ensuring user and super user capabilities meet evolving business needs.
Design, implement, and govern the incident escalation process for SAP and related supply chain applications, serving as the primary business escalation point.
Work closely with IT organizations (e.g., Global Services, Global Infrastructure) to support delivery of required digital infrastructure and services.
Champion process improvement and innovation within supply chain applications, driving continuous optimization of business processes.
Ensure strict adherence to corporate computer systems validation policies and procedures across all supply chain applications and processes.
Lead the progression of the digital roadmap for supply chain at the Lilly Medicine Foundry, embedding SAP as a foundational system and supporting the Digital Plant strategy.
Collaborate with Automation, IT, and other global teams to troubleshoot issues, drive integration of supply chain digital business processes, and support the interface of these systems with other digital applications and hardware.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Supply Chain or related discipline
Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in manufacturing, preferred in pharmaceutical or other regulated industries
Experience with integrated business process flows, driven by SAP applications, in a manufacturing facility

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $122,250 - $179,300. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program, including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and well-being benefits. Lilly reserves the right to amend, modify, or terminate its compensation and benefit programs in its sole discretion.
