Manages physical servers, including assembly and configuration of storage devices, building and specifying new servers and installing operating systems. Apply operating system patches and upgrades regularly. Manages virtual server environment with VM-Ware and Microsoft Hyper-V. This includes building new servers, installing operating systems, setting up snapshots, setting up storage resources, VM templates, and VM pool migration. Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Develop server and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Manage enterprise backups and schedules, including tasks such as adding clients, restoring data, configuring backups and storage policies, and replicating data. Maintains and manages Storage Area Network (SAN), including performing tasks such as attaching servers, creating LUNs, modifying partitions, and monitoring capacity alerts. Establishes, maintains, and manages user accounts in a multi-forest Active Directory Domain and in Entra ID as well as the configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services. Maintains current knowledge of technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to use innovative technology. Performs administration and implementation of Microsoft Office 365 platform and technologies. Manage DNS/DHCP configurations Support and maintain compliance with SOC 2 and PCI DSS requirements, including:
Implement and document security controls and procedures to meet audit standards. Participate in internal and external SOC 2 and PCI audits, providing evidence and technical explanations as needed. Monitor, log, and report on system access, changes, and incidents in accordance with compliance frameworks. Collaborate with security and compliance teams to remediate audit findings and ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SOC 2 and PCI DSS standards and best practices.
Provide Tier II/III support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshooting issues. Repair and recover hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services. Performs other related duties as assigned. Your Profile
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement. Five years’ experience in server maintenance and support planning, organizing, and documenting complex system design activities; configuring systems consistent with institutional policies and procedures. System administration and Microsoft MCSA or Equivalent IT certifications in or other network-related fields are a plus. Solid working knowledge and background in the following: Server operating systems; current equipment and technologies in use; enterprise backup and recovery procedures; and system performance monitoring tools. Scripting and automation tools; Microsoft and Apple technologies in a hybrid enterprise environment. Microsoft Active Directory Virtualization platforms. Operating system upgrade and patching techniques. Supporting enterprise-level applications. Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). General business skills and procedures. Work independently in the absence of supervision. Work productively and collaboratively as part of a team. Effectively and professionally communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff. Communicate at a technical and non-technical level. Establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust, and credibility while performing multiple tasks concurrently. Calmly, methodically, and effectively respond to emergencies.
