Overview
We’re looking for a highly driven, organized, and personable human resources manager to play an important role on our team. You’ll be responsible for leading all aspects of HR at the firm—from day-to-day compliance and benefits administration to strategic hiring and employee development. You'll be the go-to person for people operations and have the opportunity to shape the future of HR at Cohen & Cohen. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced HR Manager or early Director who’s ready to stretch into a Head of HR role. You’ll work closely with firm leadership to build out systems, shape culture, and help scale the organization for long-term success.
Responsibilities
People Strategy & Culture
Partner with the COO to define and implement HR strategies aligned with the firm's goals
Help shape a performance-driven culture built on accountability, transparency, and mutual respect
Support DEI and employee engagement efforts with feedback loops and structured surveys
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
Manage end-to-end recruitment for legal and administrative roles, including job descriptions, interview process design, and onboarding
Evaluate and implement an ATS to streamline the hiring process
Collaborate with leadership to forecast personnel needs and build role-specific onboarding experiences
HR Infrastructure & Compliance
Lead the evaluation and implementation of a PEO (e.g., Rippling, ADP, Justworks, Sequoia One)
Ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
Maintain up-to-date policies, handbooks, and personnel records
Oversee employee relations issues with empathy, clarity, and legal rigor
Organizational design support
Compensation, Benefits & Insurance
Manage benefits administration and liaise with brokers and PEO vendors
Help structure and monitor benefit offerings to support retention and cost efficiency
Oversee D&O and business-related insurance in partnership with the COO and legal
Payroll processing
Employee Development & Training
Implement an LMS to support role-specific training and continuing education
Collaborate with team leads to create training curricula (including elements from the Keenan Method where applicable)
Support the implementation of performance reviews and professional development initiatives
Data & Reporting
Track key HR metrics and maintain dashboards around time to hire, turnover, engagement, benefits usage, and performance reviews
Deliver monthly/quarterly HR insights to leadership to inform staff and culture strategy
Qualifications
4 - 6 years of experience in HR, ideally with at least 1–2 years in a manager or generalist leadership role
Strong understanding of HR compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, and hiring best practices
A hands-on, builder mentality—you’re comfortable creating systems from scratch and learning as you go
Familiarity with PEOs, HRIS platforms, ATS, LMS tools, and employee engagement software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Psychology, or related field
Compensation $95,000 - $110,000 per year
