Overview
The Campus Dean (Campus Authority) for the LMU - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, Knoxville Campus reports to the Dean and Chief Academic Officer and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Knoxville, TN location. The Campus Dean, Knoxville, shall serve as a leadership position at an assistant/associate dean level or higher and will lead all local operational execution(s) of the LMU - DCOM mission, goals and objectives. The Campus Dean must be an osteopathic physician at the level of associate dean or higher. The Campus Dean will be a member of the Deans Council and work closely with the senior leadership team, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, faculty and staff to ensure communication, coordination and follow through with various projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities
promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students and to the community at large;
promote effective working relationships among all faculty, staff and students;
participate on university committees;
supervise local leadership in all offices and departments within the DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine at LMU - DCOM Knoxville, including, but not limited to, academic affairs, student affairs, clinical affairs and operations;
execute, review, modify, and assess the DCOM strategic plan at the Knoxville campus;
oversee program development and achievement of academic standards;
oversee faculty evaluation and development;
monitor the appropriateness of faculty credentials;
recommend to the Dean and Chief Academic Officer regarding appointment and renewal or non-renewal of personnel within the DCOM ;
develop and maintain contacts with other academic institutions and teaching hospitals/clinics to collaborate on research and other projects;
assist in the development of university policies;
effectively communicate with the constituents of the local, regional, and national community about DCOM and osteopathic medicine;
oversee teaching/instructional assignments and make recommendations to ensure equitable workloads among personnel within the DCOM ;
support faculty in the development of successful research and grant writing paths;
oversee the budget development and management for LMU - DCOM Knoxville;
maintain good working relationships with affiliated teaching sites (hospitals and clinics) and GME programs;
guide the assessment of curricula and the utilization of data to revise existing curricula or develop new programs;
develop collaborative relationships with educational and healthcare institutions, clinics, and professionals;
monitor and report on the effectiveness of recruitment and retention initiatives;
work in cooperation with other health sciences programs for optimal use of physical and educational resources;
supervise students during clinical educational activities utilizing standardized patients and/or volunteer patients;
supervise students during authorized and approved patient care events including health fairs, sports physicals, or community outreach programs;
Perform other duties as assigned.
