Job Title:
Technical Project Manager – Outpatient Imaging 6 Month Contract, Remote We are seeking a highly skilled
Technical Project Manager
with strong experience in enterprise
imaging systems, RIS (Radiology Information Systems), and dictation solutions
to lead the successful delivery of outpatient imaging initiatives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project leadership, and healthcare domain knowledge to ensure seamless integration, implementation, and optimization of imaging technologies within a clinical setting. Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Manage full project lifecycle for imaging-related initiatives, from planning through execution and post-implementation support. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets. Coordinate resources across IT, radiology, outpatient clinics, and vendor partners to achieve milestones. Facilitate project governance, reporting, and communication with stakeholders.
Technical Expertise & System Integration
Oversee implementation and integration of
PACS, dictation/voice recognition, and imaging workflow solutions . Collaborate with technical teams on HL7/DICOM interfaces, system architecture, and data flows. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues impacting imaging workflows. Ensure imaging systems are compliant with security, privacy, and regulatory standards (HIPAA, Joint Commission, etc.).
Clinical & Operational Support
Partner with radiology and outpatient imaging leadership to understand and translate workflow requirements into system design/build. Drive optimization of imaging order workflows, scheduling, results distribution, and reporting. Provide subject matter expertise on outpatient imaging operations and best practices.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Serve as primary liaison with imaging system vendors for system upgrades, contracts, and escalations. Facilitate cross-functional communication between clinicians, IT teams, and administrative staff. Negotiate scope, deliverables, and timelines with stakeholders and external partners.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in healthcare IT, with
3–5 years as a Technical Project Manager . Strong hands-on technical background in
RIS, PACS, dictation/voice recognition, and imaging workflow systems . Deep understanding of
outpatient imaging operations , including scheduling, order entry, workflow, and reporting. Experience with
HL7, DICOM, and interface engines . Proven ability to lead complex, multi-site healthcare projects with competing priorities. Strong vendor management, negotiation, and communication skills. Project Management certification (PMP, CSM, or equivalent) preferred. AbbaDox, Merge PACS and other EHR integration experience highly desirable.
