Senior Mechanical Engineer
Real Time Recruitment Solutions (RTRS), Boston, Massachusetts, us, 02298
Overview
Join a highly skilled engineering team developing next-generation optical sensing systems used in airborne and remote applications. Our instruments capture critical environmental and operational data for a wide range of sectors, including research, mapping, and defense support. If you thrive in an environment where precision design meets real-world performance and you’re motivated by solving complex mechanical and thermal challenges, this role is for you. What You’ll Do
You’ll take ownership of the design and development of precision mechanical and thermal control assemblies that enable high stability and accuracy in optical instruments operating in dynamic conditions. Responsibilities include: Designing and fabricating stable opto-mechanical structures for fixed, adjustable, and scanning components. Managing thermal performance of instruments using both passive and active control strategies. Developing fixtures, enclosures, and structural supports for precision optical systems with a focus on manufacturability and robustness. Applying engineering fundamentals and simulation tools (including FEA) to evaluate deformation, vibration, and thermal response. Maintaining design documentation, BOMs, and fabrication specifications within CAD (SolidWorks or similar). Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team to bring innovative designs from concept through to production. What We’re Looking For
