Our goal is to ensure all children have the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to learn, grow and realize their potential. What You’ll Be Doing
Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and contribute to the organization’s overall vision, mission, values, and strategic goals. Collaborate with the chief team and others on the executive leadership team in the ongoing visioning, planning, decision-making and implementation of the agency strategic plan. Lead Kidango’s center-based and family child care programs, behavioral health, early intervention and mental health consultation services to provide excellent, equitable, and empowering whole-child, whole-family experiences for the children and families served. Lead and empower a staff of over 500 teachers, caregivers, center and regional directors, mental health clinicians, early interventionists, family advocates, program managers and others. Lead staff by celebrating successes, learning from mistakes, and, when necessary, holding them accountable to meet a high standard of excellence and putting children first. Honor and exemplify Kidango’s organizational values, including anti-bias and anti-racist values, and help create an organizational culture that centers equity, well-being, and builds relational trust. Collaborate with the chief team to collectively envision, plan, lead and manage Kidango. Oversee identification and achievement of Kidango’s school/life readiness goals in collaboration with the executive team. Ensure all families have a positive, culturally-sensitive, trauma-aware customer experience, build trusting relationships with their child’s teachers and staff, receive desired support services and resources, have opportunities to learn about early childhood development, and have opportunities to volunteer in their child’s classroom. Design, select, implement and evaluate a system of evidence-based early childhood curricula linked to teacher training, onboarding, coaching, and data-informed continuous quality improvement. Support classrooms in providing an inclusive environment for all children, including those with special needs. Collaborate with the research department to build and implement data and evaluation systems to inform continuous quality improvement and school/life readiness goals. Lead Kidango’s Children’s Collaborative to co-design and improve the integrated model of early learning, mental health consultation, early intervention and inclusion supports. Cultivate relationships with staff and families to ensure channels for feedback and issue resolution. Build staff leadership capacity and foster a culture of inspiring, supportive leadership. Ensure program compliance with California Titles 5 and 22, and the federal Office of Head Start. Oversee the writing of the annual Program Self-Assessment/Agency Plan of Action for the State of California and the federal Office of Head Start. Develop program budgets in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer. Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all assigned staff, ensuring training and accountability within the Education Department. Facilitate hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned staff. Oversee and ensure implementation of all training plans for the education department staff. Motivate and monitor education department staff in meeting educational requirements. Meet with direct reports regularly for supervision and coaching based on reflective practices. Collaborate with the VP of Development and Communications in developing funding requests and proposals. Provide thought-leadership for the early childhood education field on empowering young children and creating a loving, compassionate, and equitable world. Required
Prefer a Master’s Degree and require a Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education, child development or related field. Prefer a minimum of 8 years of executive experience, including supervising others; prefer a minimum of 5 years teaching in an early childhood classroom. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong computer skills in programs such as Gmail, Slack, and Microsoft Office. Ability to provide leadership, take responsibility, work independently, and set own goals professionally. Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Compensation
