Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Collaboration and mentoring are core to Geosyntec’s culture. You will work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your knowledge to expand current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also take on project management, staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Key responsibilities may include: Serve as a subject matter expert on the development, implementation, and execution of life cycle assessment (LCA) strategies, approaches, models, and methodologies for regulatory applications (e.g., LCFS and US EPA RFS carbon intensity and pathways), international and voluntary frameworks, and environmental product declarations (EPD). Expert knowledge and application of the Argonne GREET model and state-specific versions, plus experience with other commercial LCA software (e.g., SimaPro, openLCA, GaBi). Understand technical client needs and provide sustainable solutions that consider costs and benefits of carbon management and GHG strategies. Business development, project management, and technical lead for LCA and carbon quantification projects related to incentive and regulatory programs. Maintain high visibility in the marketplace through client contact, participation in professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events. Act as a senior technical consultant and strategist providing project management, regulatory subject matter expertise, or senior QA/QC review on climate change-related projects. Develop ISO 14040/44-compliant LCA models and study reports. Guide LCAs through external third-party critical review processes. Perform various technical analyses including techno-economic assessments, climate-related project assessments, sustainability program support, data management, methodologies, and QA/QC. Communicate actionable information to clients through reports, presentations, and workshops. Manage projects and staff, including technical leadership, risk management, and mentoring; collaborate with staff in other offices. Assist in recruiting and training additional staff; serve in a leadership role for the company culture and values. Training opportunities include conferences, in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring to build technical and business skills. Fieldwork: approximately 5%; Overnight travel: typically approximately 10%; travel and driving to client sites as needed.

Education and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, mechanical, or chemical engineering or a similar engineering discipline (required). Advanced degree in engineering (preferred). Professional registration (PE) (preferred). CARB-accredited LCFS lead verifier or similar (preferred). Life Cycle Assessment Certified Professional (LCACP) (preferred).

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

At least 10 years of professional and project management experience (required). Experience performing LCA assessments and reporting, including knowledge of current tools and trends. Experience working with LCA verification agencies. Strong data management and computational skills; prior experience in LCA and carbon footprinting. Proven experience in client relationship management, sales, and business development. Extensive knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and high-level modeling tools. Ability to apply LCA results within climate regulations to identify value-creation opportunities. Knowledge of standards and frameworks including Greenhouse Gas Protocol, ISO 14067, SBTi, TCFD, and CDP. Excellent communication skills; regional visibility through professional associations or trade organizations (preferred). Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

Compensation and Benefits

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Compensation ranges are location-specific and based on education, experience, skill set, and location. Typical base salary ranges are provided below as a guideline for the role in the specified locations: Denver, CO, Chicago, IL: $133,820–$187,350/year San Diego, CA, Costa Mesa, CA, Seattle, WA: $140,195–$196,275/year San Francisco, CA, Acton, MA: $146,565–$205,190/year Geosyntec offers a comprehensive benefits package including holidays, sick and vacation leave, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and other leaves for eligible employees.
