Sirona Medical
About Sirona Medical
At
Sirona Medical , we’re building software that enables physicians to work as fast as they can think. Each year in the U.S.,
billions of patient images
are captured—and nearly all of them are reviewed and diagnosed by radiologists. These specialists are the central hub of diagnostic medicine:
over 80% of all healthcare data flows through radiology IT systems . Yet radiologists are overburdened by outdated, fragmented software which limits their efficiency and the quality of care. We’re a
San Francisco-based, cloud-native software company
with employees around the world, and we’ve built
RadOS —a unified, AI-powered operating system powering the entire radiology workflows. How Sirona Solves the Problem: Sirona is uniquely positioned to transform radiology. We’re delivering the organizational shift that individual radiologists and entire practices urgently need. We offer a unified, intuitive, platform-agnostic solution and a streamlined workspace that makes every part of the radiologist’s workflow faster and easier, with the freedom to read from anywhere, for anyone. By cutting clicks, optimizing diagnostic time, and unlocking efficiencies that extend beyond the reading room into all care settings, Sirona empowers radiologists—and the entire healthcare system to move faster and smarter. For more information, please visit https://sironamedical.com/join/. About the Role
We’re seeking a Staff AI Product Engineer to join our Innovation team—a fast-moving group exploring how advanced AI, intelligent agents, and cross-surface orchestration can unlock new workflows for radiologists and clinical teams. This is a full-stack role with a strong emphasis on usability, responsiveness, and modular design. You’ll prototype novel, AI-powered user experiences, design the APIs and SDKs that connect components across our platform, and help bring experimental agentic systems into real-world use. Your work will sit at the intersection of rapid R&D and production-grade engineering—shaping features that improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. You’ll collaborate closely with AI researchers, backend engineers, designers, and clinicians to explore what’s possible—and help scale the ideas that prove impactful. Ideally, this person would be able to work out of our San Francisco office, with onsite onboarding in the first week of employment. Key Responsibilities
Design and implement internal SDKs and APIs that connect frontend components and backend AI systems Prototype intelligent user workflows that incorporate agents, clinical context, and real-time feedback Work across the stack to build user-facing features—from backend services (Python, FastAPI) to interactive UIs (React, GraphQL) Integrate AI systems—including LLMs, agentic workflows, or multimodal models—into usable tools and product experiences Help define and evolve agentic interfaces, enabling AI systems to act on and respond to user input across multiple surfaces Collaborate with clinical, product, and research stakeholders to rapidly explore and validate new directions Build quick, functional prototypes that explore what’s possible—then help architect and contribute to production versions of the ideas that prove real value Shape engineering best practices for modularity, observability, and experimentation across AI-driven systems Mentor other engineers and contribute to the technical direction of Sirona’s AI product stack Key Requirements
8+ years of software engineering experience, with strong full-stack capability Deep experience building frontend applications with React, TypeScript, and GraphQL Proven ability to design and maintain internal SDKs, APIs, and system contracts between product surfaces Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks like FastAPI, plus fluency in SQL/NoSQL systems Experience integrating AI systems into production environments—especially user-facing tools or workflows Familiarity with agentic workflows or orchestration frameworks, even if custom or in-house Comfort with rapid prototyping and iterating in ambiguous, R&D-heavy environments Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills—you work well across engineering, product, and research A user-centered mindset, with a focus on building tools that are intuitive, responsive, and genuinely useful Preferred
Prior experience in healthcare, particularly working with DICOM, HL7, or EMR/EHR data Why Join Us?
Make a real impact – Your work will directly affect patient outcomes and how physicians work Work with cutting-edge AI – Prototype and build with advanced models in a mission-critical domain Prototype fast, build smart – Help decide what’s worth scaling—and make it real Collaborate deeply – Join a highly cross-functional team of engineers, researchers, and clinicians Shape the future of care – Help define how AI shows up in clinical workflows, not just code The annual US base salary range for this full-time position is $175,000 - $215,000 + equity + benefits. Pay scale is flexible depending on experience. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, relevant education and training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
