Overview
Physician (Primary Care-PACT) role at U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This position is located in Shreveport, LA and supports the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care. Duties
Provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic work-up and clinic interventions, including health history, physical examination, and patient education to Veterans in the Primary Care team setting. Collaborate with other health care professionals to achieve patient, service, and medical center goals, promoting the PACT model of care and ICARE values. Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to establish diagnoses and respond to emergency health problems as appropriate. Order and evaluate diagnostic tests; recommend treatment and/or referral. Initiate appropriate referrals and consultations to other clinical services. Initiate, evaluate, and adjust medication orders as needed. Follow Performance Measure guidelines, including clinical reminders, access and timeliness standards, and VA formulary requirements; provide customer service. Remain flexible to clinic demands and uphold ethical standards to maintain a harmonious work environment focused on customer service. Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on-call as required. Requirements

U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, per VA policy. Applicants tentatively selected may be subject to urinalysis for illegal drug use prior to appointment; refusal may result in denial of employment. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Proficiency in written and spoken English. Subject to background/security investigation. Complete online onboarding process and provide acceptable identification for pre-employment requirements. REAL ID compliant IDs are required after May 7, 2025. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all VA health care personnel. United States Citizenship; Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from an approved school; current, full and unrestricted medical license in the United States or D.C.; residency training approved by VA; board eligibility or certification as applicable; proficiency in English. Preferred Experience:
Board-eligible or board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine; experience in adult Primary Care outpatient settings within the last two years; Women’s Health experience. Benefits/Incentives
