PlanIT Group is seeking a Systems Engineer III (Email Gateway Administrator) to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will provide network technologies and infrastructure ensuring always on, always available systems to our employees, customers, and 32K sites. Client requires the supplier to augment the team and work with application owners to administer and troubleshoot the Client's Email Gateway Platform. Summary:

They will ensure proper monitoring and optimization in maintaining a secure, efficient, and reliable network infrastructure through their expertise in Email/SMTP server technologies and network security practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Approach: This individual will be responsible for performing the following activities:
• Administer Broadcom/Symantec Messaging Gateway
• Configure, administer, document custom policies for Email administration
• High level troubleshooting of network and application issues
• Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.
Activities will include:
• Email Gateway Configuration: Responsible for configuring and maintaining email systems, policies, and rules for email traffic filtering and monitoring.
• Security Management: The administrator is responsible for ensuring email security by managing email gateway security, identifying, and mitigating email threats such as phishing attacks, spam, and malware.
• Capacity Planning and Optimization: administrator must monitor email traffic and identify bottlenecks, plan and optimize the email gateway infrastructure for maximum efficiency and performance throughput.
• Technical Support: Will provide technical support to end-users and IT professionals, resolve issues related to email delivery, and troubleshoot email gateway system performance issues.
• Analytics and Monitoring: Responsible perform regular monitoring, logging, and reporting to track metrics such as email traffic, performance, and email gateway availability to ensure that SLAs are met.
Required Skills:
• Broadcom/Symantec Mail Gateway Experience
• Strong technical knowledge of email systems, including Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, and other platforms.
• Proficiency in administering email servers, including configuring and managing user accounts, distribution lists, and email policies.
• Solid understanding of email protocols, such as SMTP, POP, and IMAP.
• Familiarity with email security best practices, including spam filtering, antivirus protection, and encryption.
• Experience in troubleshooting email issues, diagnosing and resolving problems.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to integrate email systems with other applications and platforms.
• Excellent communication skills to provide technical support and guidance to end-users.

• Proven experience as an Email Administrator or a similar role, preferably in a corporate environment.
• Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent, will be a plus.
• Network and Log Analytics
• Proficient with application layer protocols - HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc.

Education:
A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years' relevant experience.
o A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is required. If the individual's degree is not in the applicable field then four (4) additional years of related experience is required.
Additional Provisions:
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
• Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
• All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
• Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
