Shift/Time Zone: Day - Hours vary between 6:30am–5:30pm, M-F; Rotational Saturdays varies between 7am–1pm
Overview
The Phlebotomist III- Floats represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and interacting with patients to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
- Maintain direct patient contact, explain procedures, and perform blood draws in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
- Provide coverage at multiple locations for multiple roles, ensuring daily activities of the Patient Service Center/Mobile/Long Term Care/In-Office Phlebotomy are completed accurately and on time.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence and confidentiality of patient information; may be assigned to lead on-site activities in a doctor\'s office, PSC, house call environment, long term care, or as needed.
- Step in for a Phlebotomist III- Float and lead one or more PSR on site; coach, mentor, and onboard new employees or clients as required.
- Serve as a point of contact to on-site staff and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
- Handle high-complexity and/or high-volume practice with specialized focus requiring strong phlebotomy, customer-facing, problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration (Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT connectivity, Billing, Logistics).
- Manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
- Five years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Minimum 3 years in a PSC/IOP environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience.
