Job Responsibilities
- Transport full and empty trailers between the docks and designated drop parking locations in the Trailer Yard to support inbound unloading and outbound loading in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Inspect trailers for mechanical maintenance needs and potential safety hazards before transporting; tag out trailers requiring attention and communicate issues to warehouse management or fleet maintenance.
- Occasionally operate a forklift or other PIT equipment within the warehouse, as required.
- Maintain organization of the trailer yard to ensure efficient and safe trailer movement.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area and warehouse.
- Perform other tasks including pallet building as determined and requested by management.
- May perform duties other than switching as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Manual tasks: climb steps to access Switcher Tractor; lift up to 75 lbs; repetitive lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Read, write, and use a radio; read and interpret computer screen instructions.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration within a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Ability to adapt to different work areas and maintain efficient warehouse processes.
- Attention to detail and ability to differentiate packages.
- Operate in environments that are exposed to the elements and may be noisy or non-climate controlled (hot in summer, cold in winter).
- Self-starter with initiative and ability to seek value-add opportunities.
- Flexibility in scheduling; work hours subject to business demands.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge acquired through 1 to 3 years of work experience
- Valid driver\'s license
Preferred Qualifications
- PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) Certification including Pallet Jack, Forklift, Double Forklift, and Switch Tractor
Work Environment
Noisy and non-temperature-controlled environment (Hot in summer/Cold in winter)
