Frederick County is hiring: Heavy Equipment Operator in Winchester

We’re looking for a dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the Frederick County Landfill. This is steady, year-round work where you’ll operate a variety of heavy equipment, help keep the landfill running safely, and know your work makes a difference every day. Key Responsibilities

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will:

• Operate equipment including front-end loaders, backhoes, bulldozers, compactors, and dump trucks
• Perform daily maintenance checks and basic repairs to keep machines in top shape
• Assist with waste inspections, mulching, and tire shredding operations
• Direct landfill traffic and act as a spotter to keep operations safe and efficient
• Help out during snow removal or emergency operations when needed
• Take care of related tasks that keep the landfill running smoothly and safely

• 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, or compactors.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have held it for at least 2 years
• Willingness to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Dependable, hardworking, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
