Scope of Work

The Janitor will join our team at the White Sands Complex located in Las Cruces, NM. The White Sands Complex is comprised of two large satellite communications buildings with several ancillary support structures. This position is assigned to the Facilities M&O Department. This position is subject to working rotating shifts, weekends and holidays on a rotational basis as a part of normal shift scheduling. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Wet/dust mopping
  • Vacuuming
  • Emptying trash
  • Cleaning restrooms
  • Stripping/waxing and buffing of hallways and floor surfaces
  • Washing windows
  • Perform duties with minimal supervision and in accordance with job requirements
  • Pass a physical examination as determined by job requirements
  • Meet certification requirements identified in the Job Requirements Checklist
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Have 3 years’ experience as a janitor in a commercial/industrial environment
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers; as a federal enclave, membership in the union is required
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, email, and electronic time recording
  • Must be able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated Secret security clearance
  • Must maintain licenses and/or credentials required for this position
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
  • Highly motivated, flexible, organized and detail oriented
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to maintain ability to access government worksite
  • Knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Ability to work under adverse weather conditions and on uneven terrain
  • Willing to work alternate and extended shift schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to perform on-call duties and report to work on short notice
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Ability to pass drug/alcohol test and a criminal record check
