Notion is looking for a Security Engineer to help build a secure-by-default infrastructure that serves all of Notion’s technical stacks. The team focuses on architecting solutions that make the secure path the easy path.

What You'll Achieve

• Proactively enhance the security posture of Notion's AWS accounts and cloud infrastructure.
• Create secure frameworks for secrets management and AuthN/AuthZ.
• Design and deploy robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.
• Provide guidance and education on security and privacy best practices to cross-functional partners.
• Participate in and drive mitigation strategies during security-related incident responses.
• Help scale the engineering organization and mentor engineers on best practices in secure software design and architecture.

Skills & Qualifications

• Security architecture and expertise: 5+ years of experience securing cloud architectures, including secrets management and IAM solutions.
• Backend/Infrastructure Development Experience: 5+ years of production-grade code experience; ability to contribute to codebase and architecture to improve secure design.
• Experience in production: ability to debug in production and improve components with minimal user disruption.
• Pragmatic and business-oriented: model threat risks and balance security investments with business outcomes.
• Flexible technologist: able to learn new technologies and adapt beyond preferred tools.
• Empathetic communication: clear written and verbal communication; collaborative with diverse perspectives.
• Team player: thrives in cross-functional collaboration and mentoring others.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AWS security practices, IAM, and zero-trust architectures.
• Data Security or Privacy Engineering experience.
• Involvement in local or regional security user groups or conferences.

Compensation

Notion offers competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The offered compensation is based on factors including location, role scope, complexity, and candidate experience. For roles in San Francisco and New York, the estimated base salary range is $210,000 - $250,000 per year. Remote candidates may be considered.
