Project Accountant — Growing Fort Worth Engineering Firm

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial aspects of engineering projects, including budget tracking, contract management, and Level of Effort assessments.
  • Set up new projects and budgets within the accounting system, ensuring precision and consistency.
  • Prepare and process monthly client invoices, including follow-ups for collections as needed.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation and assist with compliance requirements.
  • Generate financial reports and analyses to support project managers and leadership in decision-making.
  • Assist the Lead Accountant with special projects and ad hoc financial initiatives.
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely transactions.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage project financials including Level of Effort (LOE), budget tracking, and contract oversight.
  • Set up new projects and budgets in the accounting system with accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare and process monthly client invoicing and collections.
  • Maintain project documentation and assist with compliance requirements.
  • Provide financial reporting and analysis to support project managers and leadership.
  • Support the Lead Accountant with ad hoc projects and initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, project accounting, or bookkeeping (engineering or construction industry preferred).
  • Strong understanding of project and budget management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, project accounting, or bookkeeping; experience in the engineering or construction industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
  • Strong understanding of budget management and financial reporting.
  • Experience with bank reconciliations and billing processes.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
