Project Accountant — Growing Fort Worth Engineering Firm
Responsibilities
- Oversee financial aspects of engineering projects, including budget tracking, contract management, and Level of Effort assessments.
- Set up new projects and budgets within the accounting system, ensuring precision and consistency.
- Prepare and process monthly client invoices, including follow-ups for collections as needed.
- Maintain detailed project documentation and assist with compliance requirements.
- Generate financial reports and analyses to support project managers and leadership in decision-making.
- Assist the Lead Accountant with special projects and ad hoc financial initiatives.
- Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely transactions.
What You’ll Do
- Manage project financials including Level of Effort (LOE), budget tracking, and contract oversight.
- Set up new projects and budgets in the accounting system with accuracy and consistency.
- Prepare and process monthly client invoicing and collections.
- Maintain project documentation and assist with compliance requirements.
- Provide financial reporting and analysis to support project managers and leadership.
- Support the Lead Accountant with ad hoc projects and initiatives.
What You’ll Bring
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, project accounting, or bookkeeping (engineering or construction industry preferred).
- Strong understanding of project and budget management.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, project accounting, or bookkeeping; experience in the engineering or construction industry is a plus.
- Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.
- Strong understanding of budget management and financial reporting.
- Experience with bank reconciliations and billing processes.
- Familiarity with accounting systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
