The Department
Finance and Accounting Teams at Gemini are thought leaders in the digital asset accounting and reconciliation space. Our mandate is to bridge the traditional world of finance with the innovation of cryptocurrency products, providing our clients with a best-in-class financial institution experience.
The Role
Accountant — Gemini is looking to hire a dynamic accountant responsible for creation and maintenance of financial reports and associated data supporting various legal entities across Gemini. You’ll be joining a rapidly growing and high-quality, established digital asset exchange that is regulated by the New York State Department of Financial Services and others globally. This position will be central to our continued scaling and efforts to increase transparency and public company reporting. It will involve key/high-priority growth projects impacting the Finance department as well as the overall organization.
This role is required to be in person twice a week at either our Seattle, WA, New York City, NY, or Miami, FL office.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate classification of both crypto and fiat transactions, accruals, and other transactions
- Analyze fluctuations and trends in financial statement line items and provide insightful commentary
- Document accounting processes and controls in support of SOX readiness
- Respond to audit requests and provide supporting documentation
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand and record new types of transactions
- Assist with the preparation of footnote disclosures
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements
- Contribute to special projects, as needed
Qualifications
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, economics, finance or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry)
- CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
- Familiarity with accounting systems (Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar)
- Interest in digital assets, fintech, and emerging financial technologies
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
- Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced and changing financial environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills

Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $82,500 - $110,000 in the States of New York, California, and Washington. This range is not inclusive of discretionary bonus or equity. When determining compensation, factors include skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
In the United States, Gemini offers a hybrid work approach at hub offices, balancing in-person collaboration with remote work. Expectations may vary by location and role. Remote workers are welcome where applicable.
