Overview

We are hiring immediately for seasonal BARISTA positions at Gourmet Dining & Chartwells Higher Education. Location: LIU Winnick Dining - 720 Northern Boulevard, Greenvale, NY 11548. Online applications accepted only. Schedule: Seasonal; shift depends on needs. Pay range: $16.50 per hour to $18.50 per hour. Internal Employee Referral Bonus Available.

Responsibilities

• Makes and serves coffee/espresso drinks and related food and beverage items following standard measures and recipes.
• Enter orders accurately into POS; accept cash and card payments.
• Replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies; maintain cleanliness of service area.
• Ensure proper presentation, portion control and serving temperatures; follow HACCP standards.
• Maintain sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies and utensils.
• Follow approved recipes and production standards for food preparation.
• Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
• Clean equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments.
• Greet customers courteously and relay relevant concerns to supervisors; assist in serving customers quickly and without delays.
• Explain menu items accurately and assist customers in decision-making; promote appropriate selling techniques.
• Ensure display foods are merchandised attractively and served neatly per standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• No experience is necessary; willing to train.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
