PhD in chemistry, specializing in organic chemistry or related field; ABD status considered if degree will be completed by September 30, 2026 Evidence of a commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate students in support of the mission and core values of Gustavus Articulate a commitment to supporting students from varied backgrounds, identities, and experiences Capacity to establish an independent research program addressing a question related to organic chemistry or a related field Preferred Qualifications

Additional research, teaching, and/or non-profit experience (e.g., postdoctoral or industry) Prior experience as a TA or instructor of record in organic chemistry Demonstrated commitment to actively engage undergraduate students learning organic chemistry Demonstrated commitment to supporting students from varied backgrounds, identities, and experiences Demonstrated investment in working with undergraduate students in a research lab Responsibilities

Teach a 6-course equivalent each academic year. In the first year, a reduced teaching assignment of five courses plus one fully-compensated course release; primary teaching responsibilities include Organic Chemistry 1, 2, and 3. Additional courses may include general education and other chemistry courses. Help cultivate a welcoming community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Improve teaching through teaching circles, workshops, internal grants, and cross-campus collaboration. Advance scholarship by mentoring undergraduate researchers, applying for internal and external grants, and utilizing research facilities. Develop professional skills by participating in faculty meetings and committees, and engaging in faculty development opportunities. How To Apply

Starting salary range: $64,000 – $70,000, with adjustments based on experience and other factors.
