$21.45/hr - $32.20/hr Major Responsibilities
Acts as a resource and role model to employees, including training and orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance. Assigns, monitors, reviews progress and accuracy of work, monitors productivity, maintains appropriate staffing levels, directs efforts and provides guidance on more complex issues. Assists with human resource responsibilities, which may include interviewing and selection of new employees, staff development, providing performance feedback, resolution of employee concerns, and employee morale. Assists in interpreting department policies and procedures, and advises and updates staff on procedural changes. Identifies performance improvement opportunities within the department and facilitates change. Provides input on all phases of anesthesia delivery, working procedures, quality assurance, and process improvement. Makes recommendations for changes and communicates and promotes new approaches. Remains current in anesthesia services management concepts, clinical knowledge, and hospital policies and procedures and ensures communication to staff. Maintains advanced clinical and technical knowledge in the area of anesthesia administration. Sets up monitoring equipment in the operating room and moves anesthesia equipment to the proper surgical suite; checks equipment to verify proper connections, ensures gases are managed appropriately, maintains adequate supply of equipment. Calibrates pressures and recording systems within the patient monitoring system. Provides general assistance to the Anesthesiologist, other technicians, and co-workers as needed. Assists in the insertion of arterial pressure lines during procedures. Draws arterial and/or venous blood samples for diagnostic testing. Transfers patients to and from the operating room. Collects data sheets and transports them with the patient, establishes ECG and pressure monitoring at the destination, and reports monitoring status to the receiving nurse. Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which may require lifting and pushing/pulling, while using proper technique. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, with understanding of growth and development across the life span and the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status to meet age-specific needs as described in department policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months unless the department leader determines it is not required. Education Required
High School Graduate. Experience Required
Typically requires 2 years of experience in anesthesia-related monitoring within a hospital setting. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Previous experience working effectively with physicians. Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously, with sound decision-making and communication skills. Excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving and negotiation skills. Certification Addendum Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF or others). Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently during the shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs over the head; carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance. Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present. Will be exposed to hazards such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids. Must wear gloves, goggles and gowns on an as-needed basis. Must have functional sight and hearing and operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
