Upon the order of a qualified physician, the Mammography Technologist will utilize equipment which produces ionizing radiation to obtain images for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. The Mammography Technologist will perform Mammography and DEXA studies, in addition to general radiographic studies, fluoroscopic studies, ASC procedures, and/or SCNB procedures. The Mammography Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) and designated PACS system. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience, and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic and/or screening mammography and DEXA procedures, as well as general radiographic studies, fluoroscopic studies, ASC procedures, and/or SCNB procedures when applicable, following policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC radiology department.

Apply technical principles affecting image quality, understand anatomical orientations and anomalies impacting positioning, and communicate effectively with patients, including age-related communication needs.

Maintain an individual repeat rate: Mammography

Participate in Technical Quality Control measures, perform routine equipment maintenance, report malfunctions, document results, and maintain quality assurance records.

Use RIS and PACS correctly, document findings for radiologist review, identify and communicate image transmission issues to appropriate supervision.

Adhere to radiation safety, use shielding as appropriate, and maintain sterile technique for invasive procedures when applicable.

Participate in training, maintain current licenses/certifications, and meet continuing education requirements.

Communicate effectively with patients, staff, supervisors, leads, and radiologists, aligning with the clinic's mission and values.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.

40 hours mammography training approved by the ARRT to meet minimum initial FDA & TMB requirements for mammographers.

ARRT (R)(M) MRT-General Certificate.

BLS through American Heart Association.

2+ years of experience in mammography or 1+ years of KSC experience.

X-ray and/or SCNB experience.

Experience using Microsoft.

PACS and RIS experience.

Working knowledge of mammography quality assurance measures and accreditation requirements.

Proven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates in Applied Science - Radiology Technology.

Mammography and SCNB experience.

Bilingual.

Essential Duties

Perform diagnostic and/or screening mammography and DEXA procedures, and other applicable studies, following department protocols; apply technical principles for optimal image production and patient communication. Maintain low repeat rates.

Participate in quality control, perform maintenance, document results, and ensure compliance with standards; maintain documentation and cleaning logs.

Use RIS and PACS correctly, document atypical conditions for radiologist review, and address image transmission issues with supervisory staff as needed.

Follow radiation safety measures and use shielding; maintain sterile technique where applicable.

Engage in training programs, maintain licenses/certifications, and meet continuing education requirements.

Interact professionally with patients and coworkers, communicate effectively with supervisors, leads, peers, and radiologists, and uphold the clinic's Mission and Values in all communications.

Benefits and Compensation Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. In addition to salary, benefits include a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (subject to eligibility rules). The hourly pay range for this role is $34.23 to $61.15 per hour for full-time employment. We comply with all applicable minimum wage laws.
