Responsibilities The Jacobs Medical Center (JMC) OR Nurse Manager maintains 24-hour accountability in planning, managing, and organizing comprehensive, safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include:

Coordinate daily operations and clinical practice of assigned service areas (JMC OR Department, Thornton Pavilion, Sulpizio Cardiovascular Institute).

Establish and maintain standards of care and unit policies and procedures.

Model UCSD Health's core values and mission; adhere to the ANA Nurse Administration Scope & Standards of Practice.

Monitor daily operations and overall function; manage budget and all Nurse Manager functions; collaborate with leadership and Pre/Post-Op Care Unit.

Lead efforts to achieve optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and patient care delivery; promote a culture of shared nursing practice and continuous improvement.

Ensure quality, safety, patient experience, and cost-effectiveness of care; consult with other health professionals to coordinate patient care; serve as a resource to staff, physicians, students, and others.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing (required).

Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.

BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six months.

Seven (7+) or more years of relevant experience, including at least five (5) years of recent Operating Room RN experience in an acute care hospital.

Recent leadership experience with progressive management responsibilities in patient care services.

Ability to manage disasters, sentinel events, and use critical thinking for problem solving.

Knowledge of healthcare information technology and patient care workflows; understanding of regulatory, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.

Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).

Certified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM).

Three (3+) or more years of supervisory or management experience in a large, adult academic hospital.

Two (2+) or more years of CVOR RN experience.

Experience scrubbing and circulating.

Lean Six Sigma training.

Special Conditions

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay and Benefits Pay transparency: Annual Full Pay Range: $149,700 – $297,700 (prorated if appointment percentage

Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure/certifications, and business needs. The posted pay range may be broader than what UC San Diego Health anticipates paying for this position.
