Overview
Join the Linux System Administrator role at Leidos Defense Systems Sector. In this role, you will design, maintain, and enhance our portfolio’s architecture, ensure compliance with information assurance requirements, and guarantee continuity of operations. You will work with software and radar engineers to build and maintain reliable information systems that enable the advancement of modern defense systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Work primarily on Linux based systems to design, build, integrate, harden, deploy, and maintain bare metal and virtual clients, servers, and networked systems.
Develop solutions to complex technical issues that impact multiple IT disciplines.
Effectively use automated hardening and scanning tools such as Ansible and Nessus.
Perform system analysis for performance optimization, catastrophe mitigation, and security compliance.
Collaborate with software developers to ensure systems meet functional requirements.
Support IT security activities including security compliance reviews and auditing requirements.
Perform software configuration management using software development repositories.
Potential for intermittent international travel to support system installs and maintenance (may be required in the future).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in a technical field and 8-12 years of relevant work experience; equivalent years’ or 12-16 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
5+ years of recent direct System Administrator experience.
US citizenship and active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
DoD Directive 8570 / 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
Experience administering Linux operating systems, networking/switching, and virtualized machines.
Ability to create scripts to automate repetitive tasks on Linux.
Experience implementing NIST 800-53 control families.
Experience with core infrastructure services administration (AD, DNS, DHCP, File Server).
Experience deploying operating system images (PXE-network, disk image, automated installation media with answer scripts).
Ability to collaborate within a team and work independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness to travel internationally as required to support system installation and maintenance.
On-site work in Huntsville, AL. Must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate.
Preferred Qualifications
System Administrator experience in a similarly sized organization.
Experience building and deploying DevSecOps systems.
Experience deploying Multifactor Authentication systems.
Location On site in Huntsville, AL. North Alabama residency or willingness to relocate is required.
Compensation Pay Range: $89,700.00 – $162,150.00. This range is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.
