Job Description
As a project engineer, you will work on projects within DPR’s core markets: healthcare, higher education, advanced technology, life sciences, and commercial. You will work closely with all members of the project team and will be responsible for the following: Participate and support the application of DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan to maintain injury-free environments, including performing weekly safety audits. Assist the Superintendent and Project Manager in the execution of the project. Assist and support field work under the direction of the Superintendents and Assistant Superintendents including layout, control, and the verification of trade partners work, as well as receiving deliveries of materials and equipment, including verification and coding. Review project documents, support constructability reviews, and coordinate among trade partners and self-performed work. Identify and resolve issues to keep the project on schedule. Assist in the preparation and subsequent monitoring and updating of the project schedule including the generation of Look-Ahead Schedules, Weekly Work Plans, Production Planning, and Visual Planning. Work with the superintendent to reduce project constraints’ impact on the schedule. Assist in tracking productivity and production tracking of trade partners and self-performed scopes to support schedule progress. Coordinate with trade partners and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of required materials, proper installation of same, and adherence to schedule and safety requirements. Assist with the coordination of Building Officials and Special Inspectors to support any monitoring, testing and/or inspections. Record building permit inspections and sign-offs. Assist in the preparation and execution of the Quality Implementation Plan, including identifying and executing mock-ups and first-in-place to support the schedule and assisting in Quality Control during project execution including actively closing out field report and quality issues. Assist in the completion of project close-out activities, including developing and completing items from corrective action lists and punch lists and compiling and reviewing turnover packages for the owner. Assist in communication with architects and engineers to obtain information regarding changes and clarification of drawings and assist in the project’s RFI & Submittal processes. Support contract enforcement for DPR's agreements with subcontractors and the owner. Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and implementation of various document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs. Ensure that new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information are distributed to all affected parties. Assist in preparing agendas and documenting meeting minutes and action items for various meetings including owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, pre-install meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings. Participate in project cost control, including identifying, assembling, negotiating, and distributing change orders to both the owner and subcontractors. Assist in preparing owner billing by assembling DPR costs, receiving and reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing the documents in accordance with the owner’s requirements. Assist in organizing and electronically archiving project files for easy access by the project team. Participation in trainings and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth. Qualifications We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess: Organized work approach with the ability to adapt and adjust as required to support the project’s current needs. A desire to seek out and resolve issues and roadblocks that arise during the project. Excellent listening and communication skills, including presentation skills and written correspondence. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with others in a tactful, professional, and effective manner. Effective participation in team environment A strong work ethic, a “can-do” attitude, and a passion for construction. Possess independent judgment, creativity, integrity, initiative, and the ability to apply knowledge and experience where established procedures may not be specific. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (CMiC, Prolog or similar), scheduling software (Primavera or similar) and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar). Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
