Overview
Temporary Solution Specialist at Tucson Federal Credit Union. Primary responsibility is to protect the assets of the credit union by building professional relationships with past due members to facilitate the prompt collection of delinquent accounts, and to prepare necessary documentation and/or initiate legal actions that maximize recoveries.

Essential Functions
The timely collection and follow-up of delinquent accounts to mitigate losses.
Adhere to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Bankruptcy regulations.
Provide first line of support by answering collection related questions from frontline staff and members.
Thoroughly analyze each situation and offer solutions to mitigate continued loss risk.
Locate and secure collateral in a timely and lawful manner.
Follow established delinquent account collection guidelines.
Document all actions taken on delinquent accounts in the collection system clearly and concisely.
Respond to specific requests from the Solution Coordinator Supervisor, Director of Lending & Solutions, and the VP of Lending & Solutions.
Strict adherence to TFCU’s attendance and punctuality policy.
Other Duties / Responsibilities
Make verbal or written contact with members who have delinquent accounts; analyze information to determine appropriate action to maximize recovery.
Conduct full account research to identify accounts delinquent due to accounting errors and take corrective action as needed.
Prepare payments received for appropriate account credit or posting. Transfer funds to delinquent loans as needed.
Monitor accounts for deficiency level; issue final demand letter, initiate skip tracing and repossession actions as authorized.
Review accounts for charge-off, repossession, or referral to attorney; keep leaders informed of difficult or unusual accounts.
Coordinate with the credit union’s carrier (CPI) if needed; monitor skip trace initiated by insurance company for missing vehicles.
Adhere to account security and privacy regulations when releasing information to third parties.
Continually monitor current accounts with past due tendencies to ensure payment is received timely.
Perform other related duties as required or needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic knowledge of consumer and commercial lending.
Working knowledge of collection practices such as skip tracing and repossession.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Familiarity with the Bankruptcy Code.
Working knowledge of credit union operations, policies, and procedures.
Outstanding negotiation, communication, and listening skills.
Strong analytical, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
Knowledge of consumer lending regarding loan documents and collection of accounts.
Knowledge of credit union operations, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Basic writing and math skills.
Ability to communicate with members using proper grammar.
Experience Levels and Training
Level 1 – Specialist : 1 year of collections experience; high school diploma or GED preferred; basic Word/Excel/Outlook; complete BVS courses 801, 116, 180 on entry.
Level 2 – Generalist : 3 years collections experience; intermediate Word/Excel/Outlook; complete BVS courses 355, 351, 429, 352 (plus two more determined by leadership) within 120 days for external hires or before progression for internal employees.
Level 3 – Expert : 6 years collections experience; advanced knowledge of mortgage loans and delinquent taxes; complete BVS courses 355, 351, 429, 352 (plus four more determined by leadership) within 180 days; may serve as backup to Solution Coordinator Supervisor.
Physical Demands
Sitting, standing, walking, and bending; work inside the Corporate Office.
Use of hands/fingers to operate computer equipment and office machines.
Frequent verbal and written communication with members and staff; ability to talk and hear well.
