Cybersecurity Engineer (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) at KBR, Inc. Location: Omaha, NE (onsite) Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled, proactive Linux Systems Administrator with demonstrated expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), foundational networking knowledge and TS/SCI clearance. You will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, optimizing performance, and supporting the growth of our systems through testing, live demonstrations and training. Roles And Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and upgrade data systems, ensuring uptime, security, and performance. Develop and maintain BASH scripts for system automation. Configure and troubleshoot core networking components (e.g., DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs, routing). Assist in designing and implementing network segmentation, VLANs, and basic security policies. Maintain and develop system documentation, diagrams, and operational manuals. Collaborate with other IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Support patching, updates, and package management. Collaborate with external partners to conduct integration, testing and live demonstrations of various applications. Provide expert recommendations on countermeasures, such as configuring commercial products, implementing hardware or software solutions, and adhering to security best practices. Deliver clear, concise briefings and comprehensive evaluation reports to customers, equipping them to enhance their network defenses. Work collaboratively to address complex security challenges while maintaining a proactive approach to threat mitigation. Manage multiple IT vendors to ensure completion of IT projects in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Ability to troubleshoot systems and network performance across layers. Strong organizational and communication skills. Qualifications
Active TS/SCI clearance with SAP/SAR access eligibility. BS/BA degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or a similar degree. Minimum of 5 years of Information Technology (IT) experience. Proven experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8/9. Understanding of Linux kernel, system, SELinux, and virtualization (KVM, Libvirt). Knowledge of TCP/IP, subnets, firewalls, and basic switch/router configurations. Familiarity with common networking tools: netstat, firewall, traceroute, tcpdump. Preferred Qualifications
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) CompTIA Network+ or equivalent Location
