Summary

The QA Architect will lead the quality assurance strategy, approach and roadmap for a two-year modernization initiative to migrate legacy systems to a modern tech-stack. This role is responsible for architecting and executing a comprehensive testing framework that ensures functional parity, data integrity, and performance equivalence across the transformed ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in enterprise QA leadership, legacy modernization, and test automation, and will collaborate across IT, business units, and vendor teams to drive quality excellence. Responsibilities

Own the Architecture of the Software Test Life Cycle (STLC) for Phoenix, including test strategy, planning, execution, and reporting. Design and implement test plans and automation frameworks for: Functional Equivalence Testing (FET) (in conjunction with a third-party testing partner) Smoke, Integration, Regression, and Performance Testing Data migration validation (VSAM to SQLite, DB2 to SQL Server) Lead defect triage, resolution workflows, and quality metrics reporting. Collaborate with Vendor and internal teams to ensure test coverage of 300+ screens and 500+ batch jobs. Oversee test data strategy, including baseline creation and reconciliation. Guide implementation of automated test suites using Playwright, Selenium, Postman, Beyond Compare, and Redgate. Ensure compliance with ISO 29119, SOC 2, and internal security policies. Mentor QA analysts across business and IT domains. Drive continuous improvement in QA processes and documentation Skills

Proven experience in mainframe modernization or large-scale system migrations Strong grasp of relational databases, distributed architecture, and web application testing. Familiarity with API testing tools (SOAPUI, Postman). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Deep Experience with data migration testing and reconciliation tools (e.g., Beyond Compare, Redgate). Must have 2+ years of experience as a team leader. Experience in planning and implementing QA standards and procedures at the project and program level Complete understanding of software development life cycle management practices and methodologies with emphasis on software defect identification Applied experience in test planning and controlling along with hands on experience in creating all test artifacts Experience with test management tools like Jira, HPQC and test automation tools like HP ALM, Selenium, Test Complete, RFT etc. Ability to adapt to changing situations with ease and adjust schedules to meet deadlines Professional with ability to properly handle confidential information Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines Excellent technical, communication, and presentation skills Understanding of legacy systems (COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, DB2) and modern platforms (C#, SQL Server, PowerShell). Experience, Education, and Certifications

Professional Experience:

7+ years in software QA, with 5+ years in QA architecture or leadership roles. Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology or 10 years of professional experience in Quality assurance and testing. Recommended Certifications:

ISTQB / ASTQB, CSM Seniority level
