This position is responsible for managing and improving all internal academic systems and operations. The Academic Program Manager oversees staff activity, ensures the unit is on track to meet its academic and administrative goals, develops and monitors an annual scope of work, and leads special projects to completion. 95% of the time the Academic Systems Manager: Supervision and Team Leadership
Supervises and supports the Admissions and Degree Team, responsible for: Front-office support and customer service for inquiries and requests. Processing graduate application materials and admitting graduate students. Managing academic adjustments, confirming degree requirements, and verifying graduation eligibility. Liaising with Academic Units and Colleges, OIT, Undergraduate Admissions, and Extended Studies on admissions and degree processing.
Supervises and supports the Systems Team, responsible for: Application system management, graduate forms/documents, and electronic systems supporting recruitment, admission, and graduation. Coordinating with OIT, Undergraduate Admissions, Extended Studies, and other system-dependent units. Ensuring staff technology and workstations are maintained and aligned with best practices. Academic Policy and Governance
Serves as Secretary of the Graduate Council, including: Organizing and hosting regular Council meetings. Preparing agendas and reviewing graduate curriculum submissions for accuracy and policy adherence. Liaising with the Registrar’s Office and Academic Affairs leadership.
Administrative Management and Projects
Establishes and maintains internal policies and procedures for academic administrative activities. Develops and implements work plans and unit initiatives. Leads or supports special projects as assigned. Collaborates with staff, faculty, and other units to identify opportunities and develop solutions. Handles sensitive and confidential issues appropriately.
5% of the time the Academic Systems Manager: Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior attention to detail and organizational skills. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience. Knowledge of project development and management. Ability to implement and follow policies and procedures effectively. Experience collaborating across multiple administrative and academic units. Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience. Salary and Benefits
Salary is $75,000 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to): 12 paid holidays and the University is closed between Christmas and New Year’s (requires use of 3 vacation days). Between 12–24 annual paid vacation days for full-time Professional and Classified staff depending on position type and years of service. 11.96% University contribution to your PERSI retirement fund (Classified employees). 10.76% University contribution to your ORP retirement fund (Professional and Faculty employees).
