Overview

The Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer role is an entry-level position within our Engineering & Development Services group for a qualified engineering professional interested in working on projects in one or more sectors that Black & Veatch supports such as power generation, renewables, water treatment, oil and gas, cyber and physical security. Under close supervision, the engineer performs routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles and contributes to the preparation of engineering deliverables and technical studies. Locations may include: Ann Arbor, MI; Overland Park, KS; Phoenix, AZ; Raleigh, NC. Responsibilities

Function in an engineer capacity under close supervision, applying department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and company policies. Contribute to engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, reports, engineering specifications and technical studies/evaluations. Perform routine research and analysis to develop recommendations for instrumentation and equipment selection. Understand and adhere to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements under the company quality program. Coordinate with the project team by sharing information and design decisions while gaining understanding of internal and external client needs. Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program. All applicants may be required to complete pre-employment onboarding, which may include criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, as applicable by law. Preferred Qualifications

Note:

Non-technical and technical skills below are preferred; these are not exhaustive. Non-Technical Skills: Learning on the fly, problem solving, intellectual horsepower, written communications, drive for results, informing, listening, dealing with ambiguity, and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and standards related to the discipline; basic knowledge of industry trends; basic knowledge of company quality program; basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices. Work Environment

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments. Compensation and Benefits

Salary: Engineering plan (ENG); Job Grade 014.
