Data Center Project Engineer
will be part of the onsite Construction Management team and will support teams that build electrical and mechanical systems in data centers. You will be on the construction site daily, interact with construction managers and stakeholders, and be responsible for supporting fast, high-quality delivery of data center construction. You will own communication coordination with vendors, information workflow, and document management (including RFIs, change orders, reports, and schedule updates). At Amazon, we own the entire lifecycle from design review to construction bidding, construction execution, and final hand-off to customers. We are a diverse, upbeat, creative team of engineers and managers working on innovative data centers. Key Responsibilities
Leading cross-functional communication and coordination between regional general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams, ensuring seamless information flow for construction protocols, documentation access, and standardized procedures Developing and maintaining tracking systems for design modifications, RFIs, and change orders, with dashboards for regional leadership review Evaluating Method of Procedure (MOP) submissions for thoroughness, necessity, and risk assessment Managing vendor onboarding processes, including security credentialing and orientation programs Maintaining current project management software with milestone updates, correspondence records, and document control Coordinating and monitoring owner-furnished material deliveries for timely site arrival Establishing and managing a centralized repository for contractor-supplied construction data Overseeing quality assurance programs through checklists, safety protocols, and quality control measures Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, OR 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree 4+ years of relevant experience constructing and managing complex MEP systems, including large-scale power distribution/generation gear and cooling systems in mission-critical environments 3+ years of relevant experience managing general contractors and vendors, including RFP processes, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI/submittal tracking in construction project execution Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding of data center system-level architecture, including electrical (switch gear, UPS, transformers) and mechanical (cooling systems) engineering principles Experience in designing and managing construction of complex data centers, critical infrastructure, or large-scale MEP plants Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all disciplines, and ability to create and maintain project documentation Knowledge of building codes and regulations (Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA) and certifications such as PE, LEED, or CCM Ability to value engineer and find innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration without compromising quality Amazon is an equal opportunity employer.
