Overview
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance ( NMR ) Instrument Technician will provide support for instruments within the Chemistry Department and Natural Science Division. The technician’s first priority will be the daily operation of the NMR facility, including maintenance, direct instrument operation, providing assistance to faculty/staff and qualified students in the use of the NMR. The technician will also provide support for a number of other instruments including, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, FT-IR, fluorescence, HPLC, GC, GC-MS, and other instruments. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or a related field. Very good knowledge in electronics and mechanics, and two years direct experience with NMR Spectroscopy. Extensive experience with desktop computer systems and instrument data systems. Knowledge of component and board level electronics. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field is desirable, with experience in other forms of spectroscopy, chromatography, and related instrumentation.
