This role is for an IVA Voice (Intelligent Virtual Assistant) and Digital Chat Developer. The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing IVA/Digital solutions as part of our Conversational AI strategy. You will work closely with product managers, UX/UI designers, and developers to create conversational AI experiences that meet business objectives and improve customer experience. This is a hybrid opportunity. Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA; Bethlehem, PA; or San Marcos, TX. Duties And Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end development of Interactive Virtual Assistant (IVA) Digital/chat solutions, including intent recognition, entity extraction, dialogue flow management, API connections, and sophisticated response generation. Leverage IVA/Digital development platforms (e.g., Kore.ai, Google Dialogflow, Amazon Lex, Microsoft Bot Framework) to build, configure, train, and deploy conversational agents. Integrate IVA/Digital with backend systems via REST and SOAP Web Services for robust functionality and a unified user experience. Implement and optimize NLU/NLG, develop natural-sounding templates, and potentially leverage Small Language Models (SLMs). Work with data formats (JSON) and databases (SQL/Oracle/Redis/MongoDB) for data storage and retrieval. Document data, technology information, and metrics for audiences including upper management, team members, and vendor partners. Conduct UAT/QA testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and reliability. Analyze conversation logs and user feedback to identify patterns and opportunities; refine dialogue flows and intents accordingly. Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and data scientists to translate requirements into technical specifications and roadmap contributions. Stay up to date with advancements in Conversational AI, NLP, and related technologies; evaluate new tools and techniques as appropriate. Travel up to 25%. Other duties as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. Experience on a Conversational AI platform and with Generative AI concepts for conversational products. Experience with Node.js, REST and SOAP Web Services. Experience in design/solution architecture for chatbots and voicebots. Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in developing and deploying IVR/Digital, Voicebots, Chatbots, or Conversational AI solutions. Strong knowledge of REST/SOAP, Java, Python, Node.js, JSON, SQL and NoSQL databases (Redis, MongoDB). Solid understanding of NLP/NLU concepts (intent classification, entity extraction, dialogue management) in Conversational AI. Excellent analytical and communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative team. Experience with Small Language Models (SLMs) for specific tasks is a plus. Work-from-Home Requirements
Dedicated, private room and quiet work environment; 50 Mbps wired internet from modem to company PC. Astound will provide all computer equipment; workspace must accommodate two monitors. Ability to travel to the office if disruptions occur or as required; within 60 miles of the listed office locations. Personal cell phone for security app installation.
