The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Power BI Developer/Analyst with a strong foundation in data modeling, Power BI administration, and business communication. This individual will be responsible for developing enterprise-level analytics solutions and managing the Power BI environment to ensure scalability, security, and performance. This is a strategic role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, can manage tight deadlines, and is comfortable working independently while aligning closely with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities
BI Development & Data Modeling: Design and develop impactful Power BI reports, dashboards, and data models tailored to business needs. Create efficient data models using star/snowflake schemas and implement best practices in DAX, M, and SQL. Build and maintain Power BI datasets, dataflows, and semantic models with a focus on data consistency and reusability. Translate complex business requirements into intuitive, visual analytics solutions. Collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders to optimize data pipelines and performance. Power BI Administration: Administer the Power BI Service, including workspace structure, gateway management, security, and governance policies. Implement and monitor RLS (Row-Level Security), dataset refresh schedules, and deployment pipelines. Maintain best practices around certified datasets, naming conventions, data cataloging, and documentation. Support and train business users, enforce standards, and promote adoption of enterprise BI tools. Required Qualifications: 10+ years of experience with Power BI in a development and administrative capacity. Strong experience with DAX, Power Query (M), SQL Server, and dimensional data modeling. Proven experience administering Power BI Premium, data gateways, and Dev/Test/Prod environments. Expertise in creating visually compelling and insightful interactive dashboards and paginated reports. Familiarity with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL DB). Preferred / Nice to Have: Healthcare industry experience or familiarity with HIPAA-compliant reporting. Experience with other reporting tools like Tableau, SSRS, Omni, or Looker. Knowledge of CI/CD practices for BI and DevOps tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub. Soft Skills & Work Style: Strong interpersonal and communication skills—able to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Ability to work independently and drive deliverables with minimal supervision. Demonstrated capacity to work under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and juggle multiple priorities effectively.
