About Applied Intuition
Applied Intuition is the vehicle intelligence company that accelerates the global adoption of safe, AI-driven machines. The company delivers the toolchain, Vehicle OS, and autonomy stacks to help customers build intelligent vehicles and shorten time to market.
About EpiSci EpiSci, an Applied Intuition company, develops next-generation, tactical autonomy solutions for national security problems. EpiSci’s autonomy software is technology agnostic, operationally informed, tactically relevant, and has piloted swarms of uncrewed aerial systems and tactical fighter aircraft. Additional applications include crewed-uncrewed teaming for air dominance, cognitive sensors, and networks for advanced communications systems, as well as battle management command and control for informed decision-making.
The Role As a Multi-Agent Teaming Autonomy Engineer on the Air Combat Autonomy team at EpiSci, you will design, implement, and optimize algorithms for groups of unmanned autonomous systems operating within human-machine teams in contested and uncertain battlefield environments. You will rapidly prototype, iterate, use data-driven workflows to find the best solutions, collaborate with high-performing teammates, and apply a mix of proven techniques and creative approaches.
Responsibilities
Build decision-making architectures for coordination of actions across teams of homogeneous or heterogeneous autonomous agents in real-world environments with limited human interaction
Develop and implement techniques to promote explainability within the decision-making architecture
Write software that operates real autonomous aircraft systems including F16 fighter jets, group 1-5 UAVs, and simulated models to accomplish tactical missions
Collaborate with DoD warfighter domain experts and 3rd party UAS vendors to develop and integrate autonomy software onto OEM hardware
Implement and optimize autonomy algorithms for tasks such as sensor processing, track propagation and correlation, environment mapping, mission and trajectory planning, reasoning over discrete or uncertain states, optimization, learning, and control theory
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering field
3+ years of hands-on experience developing multi-agent teaming software for autonomous robotic systems
Experience with C++/Python autonomy algorithms
Experience developing decision-making AI for autonomous unmanned systems
Strong procedural and object-oriented programming experience with clean code principles and solid OOP design
Experience developing in Docker and containerized environments, using Linux (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu), source control, and artifact registries
Travel
Must be willing to travel as projects require; estimated average travel is once every other month for 2 days to 1 week (~10%)
