Job Summary/Description: KOLN, a Gray Media-owned CBS/NBC/FOX-affiliate in Lincoln, Nebraska, has an exciting opportunity for an IT Engineer. The IT Engineer will have the opportunity to work with the latest technology in networking and leverage network equipment for video and audio transmission. This position will also work with all broadcast-related systems and provide a high level of support to all departments. Duties/Responsibilities

Oversee and maintain all IT systems and infrastructure while intentionally improving technology according to a plan. Familiar with network switches, routing, and IP addressing. Maintain all engineering aspects of the technical facility, including studio support, post-editing systems, field production support, and transmission of live/taped events & programs. Have expert knowledge regarding equipment, technology, and systems, and be able to step in and assist in emergencies. Documents and executes necessary corrective actions. Ensures all broadcast equipment is operating correctly before and during live event telecasts – corrects and documents technical problems and reports them to the managers. Have a working knowledge of the latest operating systems software, including server and desktop operating systems. Ensure all aspects of FCC & FAA rules and regulations are met regarding all technology components. Monitor multiple air channels and transmitters, maintaining regulatory compliance, and assuring quality control of on-air product Responsible for maintaining equipment for all aspects of the on-air product – TV air chain, video editing systems, IT networks, graphic systems, field news gathering equipment, and weather systems Promptly respond to all Gray, vendor, or other inquiries. Same day preferred. Complete all requests by the deadline given. Ahead of time preferred. Available during evenings and weekends, as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or equivalent experience required Strong background in Windows /Windows Server, Exchange, Active Directory, Virtual Machines, and Database Systems. Cisco experience and enterprise IT experience are strongly desired. Technical and networking skills with the ability to quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex problems Ability to participate and oversee all aspects of information security, security certifications a plus Linux/Unix, Firewall, SAN/NAS, and VMware vSphere experience considered a plus Skilled in hardware and software end-user support. Exercise the highest level of discretion when handling confidential information Advanced organizational skills and a strong ability to prioritize a constantly changing task list Experience with IP-based video/audio transport and streaming technologies Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure Excellent communication and leadership skills Must be available to support 24/7 operations Possess and maintain a good driving record Work closely with Department Managers and the direct Supervisor on urgent business operational tasks Take direction from the IT Group regarding new technology, and implement with corresponding workflow modifications. Strategic, detail-oriented, and highly self-motivated. Ability to operate and adapt in high-pressure situations. Travel to all Nebraska properties and sites expected.
