Title: Lead Java Developer - Java 21, Angular 18 Must have Terms of Employment: This position is primarily remote. Candidates must be based in Maryland, Washington, DC, or Virginia, and must be willing to work onsite in Reston, VA roughly once per month for collaboration sessions. Overview

Work with a leading firm's "Care Coordination 360" product line as a Senior Software Engineer. The team is in the midst of a multi-year, phased product release and is undergoing a major technical transformation to the AWS cloud stack. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact by not only contributing to technical development but also helping to shape the long-term strategic direction of the product. The ideal candidate will be a full stack Java developer with a deep understanding of modern technologies, a passion for staying current with open-source communities, and a strategic mindset to help navigate this exciting transformation. The successful candidate will: Develop and maintain a full stack application using Angular on the front end and Java on the back end. Design, implement, and modernize REST-based services, migrating some to the AWS stack. Tackle performance issues by leveraging a deep understanding of Java frameworks like Spring Boot and JVM configurations. Contribute to a technical transformation effort, helping to containerize on-prem services and adapt them to a CI/CD solution for deployment on EKS Kubernetes. Collate with the team on a predominantly backend-focused backlog for the current year (approx. 70% backend, 30% frontend). Required Qualifications

Strong experience with

Java 21

and

Angular 18 . Hands-on experience with modernizing services to an AWS stack. Experience with AWS EKS Kubernetes and the AWS API gateway. Must hold an AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner, Developer, or Solution Architect preferred). Required database experience with MongoDB. Experience with containerization of services and CI/CD pipelines. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with other relational database systems (RDBMS) such as DB2, Oracle, or SQL Server. Familiarity with the healthcare industry. Experience or strong aptitude for using AI-based code assistants, such as Amazon Q for developer (AQD). Experience working on a team that undergoes frequent technology upgrades (e.g., annual Angular updates, bi-annual Java updates).
