Oracle DBA — L3 Information Technology Department Woodall Office – Hybrid Remote/In-Office Policy This role requires the employee to work primarily remote with the flexibility to come into the Woodall office whenever needed, up to 3 times per week as required. Contract Position This is a 12-month contract position (Statement of Work). Job Description As an Oracle DBA L3, you will serve as a senior-level database administrator responsible for managing critical Oracle database systems that support our client’s extensive electrical grid operations and business applications. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of mission-critical database environments. You will work in a fast-paced, highly energetic environment where your expertise directly impacts the reliable delivery of electricity to millions of Texas residents. Perform extensive Oracle Exadata Database Migration, Installation, Upgrades, and Patching across production environments Manage and optimize database objects including tablespaces, users, indexes, roles, privileges, profiles, DB links, and synonyms Configure and administer Oracle 12c, 18c, and 19c database systems to ensure optimal performance and availability Execute logical backup and recovery operations using data pump, export/import utilities Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN for critical production systems Conduct performance tuning analysis using AWR reports and explain plan optimization techniques Implement and manage Database Cloning, Automatic Storage Management, and parameter initialization Perform database patching and upgrade Oracle databases from 12c to 18c/19c versions Configure and troubleshoot Data Guard and RAC (Real Application Clusters) environments Monitor alerts and notifications, responding promptly to critical database incidents Collaborate with development teams during design sessions to provide performance and scaling recommendations Drive automation initiatives and service improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency Participate in on-call rotation and effectively communicate during critical incident resolution calls Conduct root cause analysis for database-related issues and implement preventive measures Maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures Required Experience / Skills

Minimum 7 years

of relevant experience in Oracle 12c/18c/19c Database Administration Extensive hands-on experience with

Oracle Exadata

platforms including migration, installation, upgrades, and patching Strong expertise in

SQL and PL/SQL

development and optimization Proven experience with

Data Guard and RAC (Real Application Clusters)

implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting Comprehensive knowledge of

backup and recovery strategies

using RMAN Experience with

database performance tuning

using AWR reports and execution plan analysis Solid understanding of

Solaris/Linux/Veritas Cluster

environments Strong

scripting knowledge

for automation and process improvement Experience working extensively on

production systems

in enterprise environments Excellent

verbal and written communication

skills with ability to present to technical and business stakeholders Proven ability to

drive critical issues to resolution

and communicate effectively during incident calls Strong

analytical and problem-solving

skills with attention to detail Experience with

database cloning, partitioning, and cross-platform transportable tablespaces Knowledge of

Flash Recovery features and flashback query

capabilities Experience with

Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM13c)

for database monitoring and management Nice-to-Haves

PostgreSQL DBA experience

including installation, configuration, performance monitoring, and backup/recovery processes Experience working in

DevOps/Agile environments

with collaborative development practices Knowledge of

ITSM tools, particularly JIRA

for ticket management and workflow processes Background in

utility or energy industry

with understanding of critical infrastructure requirements Experience with

patch/upgrade and release management

for complex enterprise systems Familiarity with

utilities like Data Pump and Export/Import

for large-scale data operations Experience managing

high-severity critical incidents

in 24/7 operational environments Knowledge of

process and architectural improvements

for database system optimization Experience with

root cause analysis

and proactive problem-solving methodologies Understanding of

and energy industry database requirements Education

Bachelor’s degree

in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related technical field Oracle certifications

preferred (OCA, OCP, or OCM) Relevant technical certifications
