Overview
Supervisor - Bioresources - 40 hrs/wk - Days - Detroit Role summary: Under minimal supervision, participate and assist in the coordination of the daily operations of the Bioresources Department. This includes staff hiring and termination, performance management and annual performance evaluations, daily schedule management (including Kronos), cage wash operations, management of animal records, veterinary care, facility equipment and operations, procurement of animals, feed, bedding and supplies, investigator and IACUC support, staff development and training. Responsibilities
Participate in and assist with staff hiring and termination. Manage performance management and annual performance evaluations. Coordinate daily schedule management (Kronos) and cage wash operations. Maintain animal records and provide veterinary care support as needed. Oversee facility equipment and operations; procure animals, feed, bedding, and supplies. Support investigators and IACUC; provide staff development and training. Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree or higher in a related field with five to seven (5-7) years of related animal and/or leadership experience, OR Associate\'s degree in a related field with eight to ten (8-10) years of related animal and/or leadership experience. Knowledge in the care, feeding, and handling of various laboratory animal species used for research. Ability to communicate effectively; ability to coordinate the work-related duties of non-exempt Bioresources staff; demonstrated supervisory experience. Ability to perform a variety of medical procedures and treatments using specialized instruments and apparatuses. Ability to transport heavy items such as research animals, feed, bedding, and supplies; knowledge of NIH, AAALAC, USDA, DEA, and IACUC standards and guidelines. Certifications/Licenses
AALAS LATG certification required within six (6) months of eligibility. Additional Information
